Five Gnomes From November

by Geoffrey Prince

1

in our garden
of adolescence
the world was thick
with discovery;

now

upon our bed
of senescence
the world seems sick
with invention.

2

Madonna
And twins -
Our vision
Returns...

After

Singular
Pains
Our rebirth
Earns

3

The Poet’s
Garden
Draws me
Gently in

A

Perfect
Space
For light
To begin

4

A song
Of joy
Reminds
My kin

Of

The struggle
Of passion
I embroil
Myself in

5

a poor mind
blames
the reck
of the brain

while

a pure mind
does
not seek
to be sane
