by Kushal Poddar
When Sarah's husband dies from Covid-19 she takes in a rooster, begins calling it Sam. Her husband's name. The fame of their legend perturbs the neighbourhood wind. The mornings moan in early awakening the doors next and next to the next until the ripples meet the sea, salt, and wetness, lost and returning, and when the rooster dies from avian flu, Sarah invites her neighbourhood to the dinner and grief. That's all there is to it. Sea, flesh, charcoal, bones.
